Install your MacHeist license

If you have trouble installing you license, please take a look at this video:

Is it possible to copy and paste the license information?

In fact, the easiest way to get your product registered is to copy the contents of the body of the confirmation email to the clipboard: In your mail client application, select and open the mail. Place the cursor somewhere in the email body text and press the key combination Command-A. This will highlight all text in your mail as shown below.

Press then Command-C or select Copy from the menu named Edit.

When you first launch the application with no previous license entered (including a demo license), you will see the following window:

Click Install License. The clipboard's contents containing the previously copied license information will then be retrieved and get your application registered. Alternatively, you can enter this information manually as described here, but it is prone to erroneous input, so we generally recommend to rather use above method of copying and pasting text from the mail.

Can I enter the license key code manually?

Yes, you are also free to enter your license key code manually. This may even be necessary, if for some reason the above described registration didn't work, e.g. if you have copied something else to the clipboard in the meantime or you're running your application on a different computer than the one which you received the mail on.

Click Install License

You will see an entry form looking like this:

Enter your name in the field next to Name. This needs to be spelt exactly as in the email for reference. If you haven't entered an organisation's name at the time of your purchase or if the organisation entry field read [private], please leave the organisation field blank. Again, consult the mail.
Enter the license key exactly as received. When typing in, please take care that the key must not contain the capital letter 'O', but the number '0' instead.

After having entered the key, press the OK button. This will have the application register the key and store it for future use.

I still can't seem to get it to work. Who can I turn to?

If your license key still does not work please send us an email containing this information:

  • Name and Email address used when purchasing
  • Product version
  • MacHeist Bundle

Can I install Multi-User licenses over the network?

There are a couple of ways to achieve this. First of all, instead of entering the license key you can also copy the license key file that is saved under /Library/Application Support/Boinx/Licenses/ to all of your machines. These are some of the methods:

  1. You install the machines from a disk image with the entire system on it. This means you create a master installation and simply copy that to all the machines. That way the license key is copied over automatically.
  2. Using a tool such as Apple Remote Desktop you can copy the license key file to all machines on your network simultaneously.
  3. If you have a Mac OS X Server at hand, you can create a networked Library directory (automounted at /Network/Library/ on the clients) and store the license key file there. The apps running on the clients would then use that license key file.

Can I upgrade my BoinxTV Sponsored Edition to the Full Edition of BoinxTV?

You can upgrade the BoinxTV Sponsored Edition to the Full Edition of BoinxTV for US$300 in the Boinx Kagi Store.

What's the difference between BoinxTV Sponsored Edition and BoinxTV Full Edition?

Technically there is no difference. The BoinxTV Sponsored Edition requires a 5 second credit for BoinxTV in every video created with BoinxTV. The idea behind the Sponsored Edition is that we'd like to "buy" advertising time with this rebate. As of version 1.7 the BoinxTV Sponsored Edition is no longer available for purchase, but existing licenses continue to work.

Students Use BoinxTV to Create, Learn and Tell Stories

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Fryeburg Academy, a day and boarding school in Maine, is an independent preparatory school that prides itself on providing a supportive yet challenging environment for their students. The Academy believes its strong school community fosters learning and growth in all of their students, and its comprehensive co-curriculum cultivates generations of students who graduate well prepared for the future. A recent addition to the school’s curriculum to help further the Academy’s mission is Filmmaking and Broadcast – a course that requires its students to create content for, report, shoot and edit their own news show. After weeks of hard work and behind-the-scenes efforts – made easier through the class’s use of BoinxTV – FATV is broadcast online to the news team’s fellow classmates and faculty. “We could not be doing the news show at all without BoinxTV,” said Mike Dana, a former motion picture cinematographer and creator/teacher of Filmmaking and Broadcast at Fryeburg. “We use one of our editing...

HDMI Video Converter for School Use of BoinxTV!

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Our resident BoinxTV mastermind, Bastian, recently came across another great piece of equipment to use alongside BoinxTV - the HDMI to Composite /S-Video Converter 3RCA CRT TV CVBS from Portta. Designed to convert HDMI to either Composite Video or S-Video, this converter allows the devices only equipped MiniDisplayPort output to be connected to CRT TV. "We receive many requests from schools for an adapter or converter to use with BoinxTV," says Bastian. "This converter is perfect for school use, as many schools may be using HD devices and Macs that only allow for digital video playout, but are only equipped with analog TV. This takes care of that problem, converting your HDMI to analog, and allowing schools to run BoinxTV at the best possible quality." Bastian outlined the three different scenarios in which schools might use the HDMI converter to run BoinxTV in a handy little diagram - click here to view. Here's a breakdown of each diagram: Case 1: Mac with a DVI-out port: You have your...

Appletell Takes a Look at BoinxTV

Monday, October 10, 2011

Bill Stiteler from Appletell recently posted a short video review of BoinxTV, calling it a "very intuitive program." He quickly goes through the various aspects of our tv production software, from lower thirds, to layers, logos, and tickers, and suggests that users try one of the many "extremely professional looking," BoinxTV templates. "Really, the only thing you are limited by when using BoinxTV is the video processing power of your computers' video card," says Bill. Watch Bill's video made with BoinxTV here and see just how easy it is to create your very own broadcast!
