BoinxTV is a very complex application. Many components are relying on each other to make its magic happen. How well BoinxTV works on any given system depends on what you are trying to do.
Because the only way to know for sure is to try it out, there is a 5 day free trial period built into BoinxTV that can be extended to 30 days upon request.
| Minimum | Recommended | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mac Hardware | PowerMac G5 | All Intel Multicore CPU based Mac with discrete graphics (MacBook Pro's starting late 2007) | BoinxTV runs on all current notebook and desktop Macs (including the MacBook with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M) with the exception of the Macs with integrated Intel GMA graphics (old Mac mini and the white and black MacBook). |
| RAM | 2GB | 8GB | The main memory is not a significant factor for performance. Video ram is much more important. |
| Graphics Card |
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (ATI required on PowerMac G5, e.g ATI Radeon X800 XT with 256MB VRAM) |
Discrete graphic card with at least 512MB VRAM | The most important component and more relevant to the performance than the main processor is the graphics card as it is used for all the video composition and graphical effects. |
| Mac OS X | Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.8) | Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.4 or newer) | Since version 1.4 BoinxTV fully supports Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard with huge performance gains. Upgrading to Snow Leopard is strongly recommended for all users of BoinxTV 1.4 (or higher) as soon as the drivers for their hardware components such as video input cards or audio interfaces have been updated to Snow Leopard compatible versions. Future versions of BoinxTV will require Mac OS X Snow Leopard. |
| QuickTime |
QuickTime 7.6.6 (on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8) or Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4 (includes QuickTime) |
In addition Apple Intermediate Codec that is installed as part of iLife '05 and newer or one of the Apple Pro software packages is strongly recommended. | |
| Video Input | Webcam | Professional video camera with Firewire, SDI or HDMI | Use QuickTime compatible video sources such as DV cameras with FireWire (sometimes called i.Link or IEEE1394), HDV cameras (if they support progressive mode), HDMI cameras (with HDMI interface card such as Blackmagic Design Intensity or Matrox MXO2), iSight camera, USB webcams (if supplied with QuickTime driver) and many more. |
| Audio Input | Line-In / Build-in Microphone | USB or Firewire Audio Interface and professional microphones | Use any audio device available in your system. Integrate with Soundflower and other audio routing utilities for audio interviews with Skype, iChat and others. |
| Display | 1280-by-800 pixel resolution |

Tuesday, May 14, 2013The newest installment of BoinxTV directly supports the global distribution of live news The landscape of news distribution has changed dramatically since the dawn of the Internet Age. These days, the “Twitterverse” is usually the first on the scene with breaking news – albeit allegations at best in most scenarios – with credited online news organizations following shortly after with more legitimatized versions of the story. Television news broadcasting operates differently than that which is published on the vast online stratosphere. Needless to say, it requires a physical presence – journalists reporting from a newsroom or on the scene with a camera crew. Delivering a story isn’t always as simple as logging on and posting an article written from the comforts of one’s home. So when Chris...
