Thursday, July 07, 2005 - Permalink

Using FotoMagico, Swiss student Marc Widmer documented a trip on a container ship from Los Angeles to Bremerhaven (Germany). The month-long journey took him from Zürich to Los Angeles by plane and on the "Caribbean Sea" down the West Coast to Panama, through the canal, up to New York, across the Atlantic to Thamesport (UK) and then to Bremerhaven in Germany. The slide show is part of a paper for his studies.

Jerry King Musser: "Svankmajer"

Jerry King Musser finishes a new iStopMotion short: "Svankmajer". He writes: "It is a tribute to a very special Prague filmmaker, Jan Svankmajer. Perhaps it will be too 'odd' or 'weird' for many of your customers... but I'm hoping some find it interesting and maybe even enchanting in some way." Although iPhoto ostensibly offers more eye candy in the form of 12 transitions, the software from Boinx is faster, more flexible and open-minded about local TV signal standards."

There is NO software for Windows

He says: "Let me tell you what is NOT available to Windows that I use regularly on OS X" and provides an impressive list of apps, including iStopMotion. He also notes that very few Windows Applications do not have a Mac equivalent that is - in most cases - even better than the Windows version.

Niall Kennedy has interesting notes on the WWDC Mac Small Business Lunch. When I got there I was a bit late so I missed the guys. Of specific interest are the notes on private beta programs and automatic licensing. Good advice.
