BoinxTV Studio for Mac Cuts Production Costs!

Bob LeVitus from the Houston Chronicle had always wanted to be on television, so when he was asked to write, coproduce, and host a half-hour program known as Mac Today back in 1992, he jumped at the chance. The show was syndicated in more than 100 markets, and ran for 13 weeks. During this first brush with TV, Bob learned that creating high-quality video programming requires time, talent and money. He was bitten by the TV bug and has been thinking about doing another show ever since.
"My big problem has always been the money," says Bob. "I've got time, and I'd like to believe I've got talent. What I didn't have was a TV studio filled with all the purpose-built equipment necessary to produce a TV show." That's where BoinxTV comes in. Bob describes BoinxTV as, "a Mac application that delivers much of the functionality of a traditional TV studio at a fraction of the price. With its unique layer-based production system, BoinxTV makes it easy to create video that looks like what's on TV, be it CNN, Fox News, ESPN, HBO, or the local news."
Bob concludes his BoinxTV review by saying, "If you've ever dreamed of producing TV, BoinxTV makes it cheaper and easier than ever before." Read the complete review here!
4 Easy Ways to Create Your Own Online TV Station

Mac360's Rob McElfresh recently took a look at BoinxTV as a solution for creating a Mac360 video series. Here's just a sampling of what he had to say...
"Boinx does a good job of describing the video effects tools with a series of video examples on the company website. You'll need them. Video production may be digital point and click, but dozens of elements, preferences, and settings are floating onscreen at the same time, so start slowly, build a simple video, then progress to more comples productions."
"Also useful are BoinxTV's export options. Most of the QuickTime movie settings are available, as is a single-click option to upload your production to YouTube. And, it covers a wide spectrum of usage, from a simple single video source, to multiple video sources. Add a live Skype video stream to the production."
"BoinxTV is more than a fun app or toy. It's capable of serious quality production, but requires plenty of time to master..."

Wired Educator Gives Boinx an A+

Wired Educator recently reviewed BoinxTV and iStopMotion, giving both products A+ ratings! The source for integrating technology in classrooms, Wired Educator is known for taking a look at the latest and greatest software for the educational realm. Calling BoinxTV a "perfect tool for school video production," Wired Educator says, "BoinxTV's intuitive inferface and well-thought-out controls makes a quality first-time production not only possible, but fun. Often when adopting a new piece of software, especially for classroom use, the entry level of frustration is so high that the teacher and student become discouraged. Not so, with BoinxTV. This program is designed well. It's great the first time, and has enough layers of higher application and effects to keep you coming back to try it again and again. BoinxTV is a must-have for any school."

Wired Educator's review of iStopMotion is no less outstanding. "iStopMotion is quite simply the must-have software for any creative classroom, and every wired educator. This is an incredibly powerful educational tool that neither you nor your students will outgrow, and is only contained by the limits of your combined imagination. It is the single best piece of software for helping students become content creators and publishers we have ever reviewed. Period.

"Run your own broadcast station with BoinxTV"

ReviewMe recently took a look at BoinxTV - both Home and Pro versions - and was wowed with its full-fledged production capabilities. "This review is about a full-fledged pre-production in a box. (Is is a surprise or is there something in the water or the air in Germany, most of the software that we have reviewed is generally made in Germany of German speaking countries and they are all top class software in terms of quality)," the reviewer jokes.
The in-depth review walks readers through each aspect of creating a broadcast via BoinxTV - from choosing a template, to the user-friendly interface, adding layers, and more. "We recommend that there is no better software at this point in time that provides the functionality and features of BoinxTV, especially for the home user. If one is serious about professional quality production with multiple feeds, etc., then the Pro version is the way to go. In the broadcasting industry, where equipment is generally very expensive, BoinxTV is perhaps the most affordable component that ties everything together."

BoinxTV among Streaming Media Editors' Pick 2010 winners
by Frank - Wednesday, April 14, 2010 - Permalink

BoinxTV is one of the winners of the 2010 Editors' Picks of Streaming Media Magazine:
"As Sherm Schlar wrote in his review in the December/January issue, BoinxTV transforms a desktop Mac into a full-blown video production studio, for a fraction of the price of doing the same thing on a PC. The software can capture from multiple cameras and microphones via a variety of inputs (USB, FireWire, composite, HDMI, and SDI), and the output supports up to 50 layers and effects including text crawls and video filters. Add the built-in chromakey feature and custom backgrounds, and you’ve got everything you need to assemble a professional video production on an amateur budget—BoinxTV sells for as little as $159 for a “sponsored version” that features the BoinxTV logo in any output; the full version without the logo goes for $499."
Streaming Media Magazine: "BoinxTV - the video bargain of the year"
by Frank - Monday, January 18, 2010 - Permalink
Sherman Schlar reviewed BoinxTV for Streaming Media magazine and compared it with existing Windows-based and hardware broadcast solutions:
"While video overlay programs exist for Windows PCs, most are fairly basic and can’t match the features found in BoinxTV. To accomplish the same thing in studio hardware, you’d need a live switcher, titler, and character generator, logo generator, and chromakey system. Did I mention the video overlay stopwatch and video graphics display engine? Ka-ching. BoinxTV installed on a Mac for less than $2,000 just might be the video bargain of the year."
