FotoMagico 1.5b14: iTunes Music Store Songs

-

FotoMagico 1.5 is on the finish line. New in b14 is finally support for songs from the iTunes Music Store, albeit due to restrictions in the DRM, only for a live slideshow. A movie contains just silence where the DRM protected song is supposed to be. (And, by the way, the big new feature of 1.5 is Transitions.)

FotoMagico 1.5b14 is a public beta. For news and information on the download, go to the FotoMagico Beta page...

FotoMagico 1.5b8 Public Beta

-

FotoMagico 1.5 enters its public beta phase. You can download it and use it with your regular license key. If you want to try it out, you can also use the regular demo license with it.

What's new in FotoMagico 1.5b8?

One word: transitions. We added a number high quality, beautiful transitions. When you see then, you'll understand why it took some time to implement. Give them a spin and see if you can figure out where we got the inspiration for them.

Another new thing is the support for a second screen. If you use a computer with two displays connected, you can now choose on which one the slideshow will run.

Also much requested the capability to make a set of slides match the duration of a song.

Great new stuff. We want you to really pound this version, see if you can break it. Our plan is to have a stable version ready for the Macworld.

How to download FotoMagico 1.5b8...

New iPod, FotoMagico and iVeZeen

-

Fmonipod

The new iPod arrived at Boinx Software. First impression: the box is small, real small. Time to load stuff onto it. "Achim Had A Little Lamp" was quickly converted for the iPod using Apple's QuickTime Player Pro.

A nasty surprise awaited us, however: the H.264 based iPod presets for FotoMagico and iVeZeen did not work as specified. It is more tricky than apparent at first sight to create a movie that will play on the new iPod using QuickTime APIs. We updated both FotoMagico and iVeZeen to include fixes. iVeZeen 2.1.1 has a new piece of code which uses a different exporter to create the H.264 file. To incorporate this new code in FotoMagico turns out to be a challenge, so FotoMagico 1.2.6 has a new preset based on the MPEG-4 format until the new code works and has been tested.
